A Rankin County sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured Saturday in a crash while responding to an emergency call.
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy was involved in a two-vehicle crash at approximately 3:42 p.m. on Highway 80 near Shiloh Parkway in Brandon.
The Brandon Police Department, Pafford Ambulance Service, and additional deputies responded to the scene.
After being extricated from the vehicle, the deputy was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in critical but stable condition, according to the sheriff’s department. The occupants of the other vehicle were evaluated by medical personnel but were not transported from the scene.
The Brandon Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
Authorities have not publicly identified the injured deputy or the occupants of the other vehicle.
