Ole Miss football’s season opener is here.
The No. 9 Rebels enter 2026 under the leadership of Pete Golding, who took over as head coach after Lane Kiffin’s awkward departure and led the 2025 team to the College Football Playoff semifinals. Golding and company will look to return to the CFP, with that journey beginning Sunday night against No. 24 Louisville in Nashville.

Ole Miss and Louisville will kick off inside Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, in Nashville on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

— This will be the second all-time meeting between Ole Miss and Louisville. The Rebels have a 1-0 lead in the series with a 43-24 win coming in 2021.
— Ole Miss went 13-2 in 2025, including a run to the CFP semifinals. Louisville went 9-4 and won the Boca Raton Bowl of Beans over Toledo.
— Golding is going into his first full season as the Ole Miss head coach, winning two playoff games last season after Kiffin left for LSU. Jeff Brohm is going into his fourth season, holding a 28-12 record.
— Trinidad Chambliss will start at quarterback for Ole Miss. The fifth-year Heisman hopeful passed for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns with 3 interceptions while adding 527 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground in 2025.
— Lincoln Kienholz will get the start behind center for Louisville after transferring from Ohio State. Kienholz passed for 139 yards and 1 touchdown in relief for the Buckeyes in 2025.
— Preseason All-SEC Rebels: QB Trinidad Chambliss (first team), RB Kewan Lacy (first team), DL Will Echoles (first team), LB Suntarine Perkins (first team), PK/KOS Lucas Carneiro (second team), OL Patrick Kutas (third team), DL Kam Franklin (third team)
— Preseason All-ACC Cardinals: RB Isaac Brown (first team), DE Chev Lubin (first team). Brown also finished fourth in preseason ACC Player of the Year voting. It’s worth noting the ACC only releases one preseason team, unlike other conferences.
