Government buildings in Jackson County were targeted by bomb threats on Friday morning.
The Pascagoula Police Department told WLOX that two separate calls were made. One caller reportedly notified authorities that a bomb had been planted under the county coroner’s vehicle. The other caller allegedly said a bomb had been placed across the street from the county’s government services complex.
The complex is where the sheriff, district attorney, and board of supervisors’ offices are located. The county health department offices were also evacuated due to the threats.
Law enforcement authorities said a search by police K-9s found no explosives or dangerous devices. The two calls have not been confirmed to be linked at this time.
Jackson County and multiple officials have been the subject of threats since the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells began. A grand jury recently decided not to pursue criminal charges in the Ocean Springs teenager’s passing.
