A Mississippi Valley State men’s basketball player is in the custody of federal law enforcement.
Qinfang Pang, a 6-foot-9 power forward for the Delta Devils, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in late September for allegedly overstaying his visa. According to ICE’s records, Pang, a native of China, is currently being housed in the Richwood Correctional Center in Louisiana.

Pang transferred to Mississippi Valley State after spending two seasons at Monroe University, a college in New York. Before that, he attended and played ball at Christ the King High School in the same state.
The student-athlete’s detainment reportedly stems from a delay in getting his student visa reinstated. Pang, according to his legal counsel, is currently in the process of getting all of his paperwork in order so that he can return to college and play basketball.
Mississippi Valley State begins the 2026-27 season at Oklahoma on Nov. 6.
