A Mississippi woman is behind bars for alleged threats directed at federal law enforcement.
Officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations took Lisa White, a Florida attorney and native of Diamondhead, into custody in Long Beach. White is accused of going to a local gun store and attempting to purchase a firearm and pepper spray, while stating that she intended to “kill federal agents.”
According to authorities, White inquired about the capability of specific firearms to penetrate ballistic vests, saying she would target agents’ heads if she could not breach their armor. Homeland Security Investigations special agents responded to the scene, conducted interviews, and located and arrested White.
“The safety of our personnel is paramount, and HSI takes any threat against federal law enforcement officers with the utmost seriousness,” Homeland Security Investigations Gulfport Assistant Special Agent in Charge Matthew Reidell said. “We commend the vigilance of the citizens for recognizing these threats and notifying law enforcement immediately, which allowed us to intervene swiftly.”
White is currently being held in the custody of law enforcement as authorities prepare federal criminal charges for influencing, impeding, or retaliating against a federal official by threat.
