A Mississippi-based company has broken ground on a $7 million expansion in Batesville, with the project set to create up to 100 new team member jobs.

ACI Building Systems held a groundbreaking ceremony last week to announce plans to add an additional 36,000 square feet of space to its facility for a new fabrication shop.

The investment is also expected to provide upgrades to facility-wide state-of-the-art equipment in an effort to better serve existing and potential customers across the nation.

“The driver behind this decision is our confidence in the great partnerships that we continue to develop with ACI customers, team members and the greater Batesville community,” ACI CEO Rob Mutersbaugh stated.

Founder Bill Watkins launched ACI from a 19,000-square-foot facility in Batesville in 1990, with sales in the first year totaling $2 million.

Over the past 33 years, ACI has expanded with 14 additions, totaling 237,000 square feet, on an additional 125 acres. The company has constructed over 20,000 steel buildings for more than 2,400 customers across the United States.

Throughout the past three decades, ACI steel has been used in an array of facilities throughout the U.S., including fire stations, schools, urgent care centers, retail stores, and more.

“Our success can be attributed to four key drivers,” Mutersbaugh added. “Our Customer Partners, our Community Partners, our ACI Team Member Partners, and our long-standing reputation in the marketplace.”
