Mississippi State athletic director Zac Selmon will be sticking around Starkville for at least a few more years after signing a contract extension on Wednesday.
First reported by 247Sports, Selmon and the university agreed on a new contract that goes through 2029. The deal includes a pay bump, one that will bring Selmon’s annual salary up to around $1.25 million during the contract’s first year. He will receive a $100,000 “milestone incentive” for each year of the contract he fulfills.

Selmon was hired by Mississippi State in January 2023 after the departure of now-Auburn athletic director John Cohen. Since arriving, he has hired head football coach Jeff Lebby and will soon have a chance to make a splash with a new baseball coach after the university parted ways with Chris Lemonis a couple of weeks ago.
He has also spearheaded a massive fundraising campaign for Bulldog athletics. Per the report, the current calendar year is on pace to set a school record for the most money coming into the department through private donations. Last week, a $60 million donation was made by Howard Industries to go toward the construction of an indoor practice facility for the football team, plus revamped locker rooms and other student-athlete spaces. Another $1 million gift was received by MSU on Wednesday morning.
