With summer out and fall in, the American Red Cross is urging people to mark the new season with a lifesaving blood donation.
According to a news release, donors of all blood types – especially those with types O positive and B negative blood – are needed.
“For many, daily routines shift as the seasons change, but blood donations must remain top of mind,” American Red Cross officials said. “Every single donation is key to making sure all patients relying on critical transfusions, including car accident victims, those living with sickle cell disease, and those facing cancer, get the care they need.”
Anyone who gives blood or platelets between now and Oct. 19 will receive a $10 Amazon gift card via email. Upcoming blood drives in south Mississippi are scheduled in Hattiesburg, Lucedale, Diamondhead, Biloxi, D’Iberville, Gulfport, Pass Christian, Gautier, Moss Point, and Ocean Springs. For those in central and north Mississippi, blood drives are expected to be announced soon. However, appointments can always be made at American Red Cross locations in Jackson and Tupelo.
