Physically disabled Mississippians with a knack for the outdoors will have a special hunting opportunity at the end of the year.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District announced Wednesday that the 36th annual Arkabutla Lake Physically Challenged Deer Hunt will occur in December.
Applicants, per the federal agency, will be limited to individuals who are quadriplegic, paraplegic, ambulatory with the use of leg braces or crutches, or other permanent physical limitations. There will be two hunts, each lasting three days, on December 5-7 and 12-14.
Applications are available at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office or online. The Core’s deadline for receiving applications is Friday, November 7, at 3:00 p.m. Applicants will be notified during the second week of November if they are selected.
