Arrest made after woman found dead on Hattiesburg sidewalk

An arrest has been made after a woman was found shot to death on a Hattiesburg sidewalk Wednesday morning.

Julio Cesar Pineda, 42, is said to have killed Josie Windham, 29, near the Mark II Apartments in the 2300 block of West 7th Street. She was pronounced dead on the scene by authorities after being found unresponsive.

After the Hattiesburg Police Department determined Pineda to be a person of interest, he was quickly taken into custody and charged with murder. According to HPD, the incident was domestic in nature.
