An investigation is underway after a dead body was found in a Jackson creek.
Police say an unidentified Black male was found deceased in the water near Adkins Blvd. on Monday. Law enforcement officers were notified about the body during a traffic stop along I-55 Frontage Rd. near Briarwood Dr.
Upon arrival at the creek, police spotted the deceased, who was reported to be wearing black shorts and a black shirt. First responders with the Jackson Fire Department were called to the scene and removed the body from the water.
Hinds County Coroner Jeremiah Howard conducted a preliminary examination of the deceased and classified the incident as a death pending further investigation.
The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. No further details have been released at this time.
