With college football kicking off in Mississippi later this month, Belhaven star offensive lineman Kendrioun Boatman has been named a preseason All-American by D3Football.com.

Going into his fifth year with the Blazers, Boatman landed on the third-team offense after a stellar 2022 campaign. Last season, the McAdams native started all 10 games at right tackle and helped anchor a Belhaven offense that broke multiple school records, including single-season highs for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.

“We are very proud and excited for Kendrioun Boatman to receive this honor. ‘Boat’ is a tremendous football player and as fine of an offensive lineman as there is in the country,” Belhaven head coach Blaine McCorkle said. “However, he is as equally impressive off the field, having been voted captain two years in a row, an honor student who has already graduated and is pursuing his master’s degree as well as being a wonderful husband to his bride Makeria. We are not at all surprised by this honor and expect many more to come his way this fall.”

Being recognized as a preseason All-American is the latest honor for Boatman, who was named to the USA South All-Conference First Team Offense and the D3Football.com All-Region III Second Team Offense in 2022. He was also featured on last year’s watch list for the C Spire Conerly Trophy, the award given out annually to the state’s top college player.

Belhaven will kick off the 2023 season on Aug. 31 against Millsaps College in the annual Riverside Rumble. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Belhaven Bowl in Jackson.
