Belhaven’s softball team is once again conference champions, signaling what could be the start to another deep postseason run.
The Blazers defeated Huntington 2-0 on Sunday to secure their second Collegiate Conference of the South title in three years. Ellie Williamson led the way offensively with a two-run, long ball in the second inning. Macy Funderbunk pitched a complete game, striking out seven on the way to the shutout.

“Proud of this team! It’s never easy with a lot of new faces, but the chemistry with this group is off the charts!” head coach Kevin Griffin wrote on social media after the win.

Even with a lot of new faces, Belhaven nearly seamlessly picked up where they left off after making it to the national championship game but falling just short of the crown a season ago. The Blazers, who lost five seniors after the 2024 campaign, finished the 2025 regular season with a 31-7 overall record and a 14-2 mark in conference play.
Next up will be another shot at the NCAA crown. For the fifth season in a row, Belhaven has earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament. They will find out seeding and their first-round opponent on Monday, May 12, at 10 a.m. CT.
