A Biloxi man has been sentenced to serve six months in prison followed by two years of supervised release after submitting a false tip to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

According to court documents, 24-year-old Gregory Lee McKee submitted an anonymous tip to an FBI website on September 20, 2022, claiming to have heard a specific individual discussing plans to blow up a local police station.

In response to the tip, law enforcement officers searched the individual’s home, interviewed the individual, and interviewed the individual’s mother.

The unnamed individual denied making any statements about blowing up the Biloxi Police Station and explained that McKee may have set him up because they had a falling out.

Upon further investigation, internet data indicated that the tip had come from an IP address associated with McKee’s mother.

After interviewing McKee, the suspect admitted to submitting the tip because he was angry with the individual.

The FBI and Biloxi Police Department investigated the case.
