Officials have identified the remains of a decomposing body found in a Yazoo City storage unit back in December.

As reported by WLBT, the worries of Jackie and David Edmonds were confirmed when they discovered the remains inside their missing brother’s storage unit. An autopsy performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office found the remains to be that of Sam Edmonds, who first went missing in November.

While Sam’s toxicology report showed a lethal amount of narcotics in his system, the question as to how he was locked inside the unit remains. Officers with the Yazoo City Police Department are still seeking answers.

“Right now, because of the way the body was hidden like it was, it’s still an ongoing investigation,” Chief Terry Gann told the local TV station.

Sam’s siblings are also vowing not to let the case go cold. Police currently have one suspect in custody who has refused to cooperate without an attorney. He or she was initially arrested for tampering.

If you have any information regarding the disappearance and death of Sam Edmonds, contact the Yazoo City Police Department at (662)747-1131.
