The body discovered in the trunk of a vehicle at a Laurel car dealership has been identified as a woman who had been missing for days.
Authorities confirm that 32-year-old Samantha Elisabeth McCowan was found at Louis Auto Sales on Highway 184 on Monday. McCowan had crashed her car into a power pole on Friday around 1 a.m. and was spotted walking away from the scene following the collision before going missing.
While law enforcement could not explain how the victim’s body ended up in the back end of a vehicle, an autopsy conducted by the state’s forensic crime lab found no signs of foul play involved in McCowan’s death. Surveillance footage viewed by police corroborated the lab’s findings.
