For the first time in history, both the Ole Miss and Mississippi State women’s basketball teams are heading to the big dance in the same season.

The Rebels, who are making consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since their 11-year postseason run from 1982-1992, were selected as an 8 seed in the Seattle Regional 4. Their first game will be against 9-seeded Gonzaga on Friday in Stanford, Calif.

The Bulldogs, who are back in the tournament after a three-year hiatus, were selected as an 11 seed and will face off against Illinois in Wednesday’s play-in game in South Bend, Ind. The winner will meet 6-seeded Creighton on Friday.

On the season, Angel Baker leads Ole Miss with 15.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while Jessika Carter leads Mississippi State with 14.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
