A Brandon man was arrested Tuesday night after attempting to hold his wife hostage and then barricading himself inside the home.
Police say at around 6:25 p.m., they received a call that Joseph Martin Kennedy II was heavily armed and refusing to let his wife leave the residence at 237 Cornerstone Drive.
The wife, whose identity has not yet been released, was eventually able to escape as Kennedy was taken into custody without incident.
Kennedy is being charged with domestic violence and kidnapping.
