Mississippi State’s time in this year’s SEC Tournament was short-lived as the Bulldogs were blown out 9-0 by Texas A&M.
Justin Parker’s club (34-21) was slated to take the diamond in Hoover, Alabama, on Tuesday night, but inclement conditions in the area forced the team’s contest against the Aggies to be moved back to Wednesday morning.

Bulldog pitcher Ryan McPherson worked around a baserunner and struck out three Aggies to open the game, but that was the only high note for the maroon and white in the postseason matchup. A red-hot top of the second inning found Texas A&M with a commanding lead. A pair of hits and a fielding error scored two Aggie runs, then a grand slam by Jace LaViolette put the No. 14 seed up 6-0.
Texas A&M scored two more runs in the top of the third and sent another runner to home plate in the top of the seventh to go up 9-0. Mississippi State, the SEC Tournament’s No. 11 seed, was unable to reach home plate. The Bulldogs had six hits in the contest and left nine runners on base.
Mississippi State will learn its NCAA Tournament fate on Monday. The selection show will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 11 a.m. CT. As things stand, the Bulldogs are projected to land as a No. 3 seed.
