It’s the third shooting to happen in Mississippi this weekend at a homecoming event. Six people were killed in a mass shooting that saw 16 partygoers struck by gunfire early Saturday morning in Leland following the homecoming game at Leland High School. Before that, a shooting on the campus of Heidelberg High School left two dead, including an expectant mother. A person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with the Heidelberg shooting, but no arrests have been made in connection with the Leland shooting.
Another shooting occurred at South Delta High School’s football game in Rolling Fork on Friday night. One victim was injured with two suspects taken into custody by the Sharkey County Sheriff’s Office.
