Why can’t Coastal Mississippi be this home? We’ve got the goods, and I’m convinced we can make it happen with a united front.
Before this onshore push, another trend was already brewing: advanced tech reshaping economic development. It’s wild to think Mississippi is even in these conversations. Data centers are exploding. AI and automation are slashing manufacturing costs, and digital platforms are letting even tiny businesses go global. But it’s a double-edged sword – disrupting old jobs, widening skill gaps, and demanding we adapt fast to harness it. This is tough, smart work. We’ve got to be on our game to win.

A killer regional marketing plan, unified infrastructure priorities, one-stop permits, and aligned incentives could make us the no-brainer choice. The Harrison County Development Commission, Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, and Jackson County Economic Development Foundation get a boost, not a takeover, working with a new public-private regional framework. Their local know-how fuels a bigger vision, making for a force multiplier.

With tariffs cracking the door open, we’ve got the muscle to bust through if we stick together. We rebuilt after Katrina, brick by brick. Now, let’s build something new, side by side.
