Columbus Air Force Base jet crashes in Alabama, leaving two dead

A training jet that took off from Columbus Air Force Base crashed Friday night, leaving two airmen dead. 

According to 14th Flying Training Wing Commander Col. Seth Graham, the T-38 jet went down down near Dannelly Field in Montgomery, Alabama. 

“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you both of our teammates from the 50th Flying Training Squadron were killed in the accident. Please keep the families of these Airmen in your thoughts and prayers. Losing teammates is unbelievably painful but we will get through this together,” Col. Graham said. 

Multiple reports state that the jet was en route to Florida. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation and the names of the airmen have not been released at this time.
