A man in Columbus is facing charges after police said he broke up a Sunday church service and demanded money from the congregants.
The Columbus Police Department arrested and charged Demetrius Presley with strong-armed robbery, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years.

According to Columbus PD, Presley stormed his way into Canaan Baptist Church in the 1800 block of Short Main Street on May 3, disrupting a worship service and forcibly taking money from the collection plate.
One of the congregants, a retired law enforcement officer, took matters into his own hands by detaining Presley until police arrived. Presley was then arrested without further incident.
Columbus PD says the investigation into the incident remains active and is asking anyone with additional information to call (662) 244-3500.
