COVID-19 outbreak in Mississippi continues to worsen

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has reported 1,134 new cases of COVID-19 with 30 deaths.

As the outbreak in Mississippi continues to worsen, the total numbers sit at 59,881 positive cases and 1,693 coronavirus-induced deaths.

Hospital numbers also continue to grow. There are currently 968 people hospitalized in the state of Mississippi, which is already struggling to keep ICU beds open.

Sources close to News Mississippi have said that the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, the state’s largest hospital, will be transferring overflowed patients to rural hospitals across the state as soon as Monday.
