Dangerous heat stress conditions possible in Mississippi this weekend

The National Weather Service is warning Mississippians of a dangerous heat wave that could be hitting the state this weekend.

According to NWS Jackson, heat indices west of Interstate 55 and south of Interstate 20 are expected to hover around 105 degrees on Saturday but could reach 110 degrees on Sunday and Monday.

NWS officials offer the following tips to avoid heat exhaustion:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activities
  • Take frequent breaks if working outdoors
