State authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting at a Lucedale home.
The gunfire rang out on Blackberry Lane around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Officers with a regional SWAT team were attempting to serve a warrant when the subject, identified as 42-year-old Nicholas Parker, reportedly barricaded himself inside the residence and fired at police.
Officers at the scene called the Jackson County SWAT team in for assistance. Parker is accused of shooting at authorities again, prompting law enforcement to fire back, fatally striking the subject. No officers were physically injured during the incident.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is currently assessing the incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office. Additional information may be provided at a later time, per officials.
