Delta State quarterback Patrick Shegog has been nominated for the 2023 Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded annually to the top college football player in Division II.
Shegog is one of 38 student-athletes from across the nation featured on the initial list of nominees, which will be cut down on a regional basis ahead of this year’s winner being announced on December 15. The eight finalists will be announced early next week.
In 11 games for the Statesmen, including the team’s 49-14 round one playoff win over West Florida, Shegog has accounted for over 3,000 total yards with 42 touchdowns. The sixth-year player out of Batesville is also a finalist for the Conerly Trophy, which goes to Mississippi’s top player each year.
Over the course of his career in Cleveland, Shegog has passed for 8,989 yards and rushed for 2,277 yards. The reigning Gulf South Conference offensive player has 110 total touchdowns in 45 games and has been named All-GSC three times.
