An investigation has been launched after a detainee was found dead at the Raymond Detention Center.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, 29-year-old Kendravius Eldridge was found unresponsive in his cell Monday at 9:10 a.m.

As of now, the cause of death is unknown as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case. No foul play is suspected.

In 2015, Eldridge was charged with murder in connection to a shooting in Jackson. It’s unclear if he was ever sentenced as neither the Mississippi Department of Corrections nor Hinds Couty has him currently listed in their inmate records.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
