An investigation is underway after a detainee was found dead on Saturday afternoon, according to the Magee Police Department.
Felix Bartolo was discovered deceased in his cell by officers at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. At the time, Bartolo was being housed alone, which leads officers to believe no foul play was involved, an announcement by the department said.
Officials added that emergency protocols were followed, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case.
Bartolo’s next of kin has been notified.
