Police have identified the remains of a dismembered body found in Pearl River County as 24-year-old Seth Coulter Odom of Poplarville.

Authorities found Odom’s body in a plastic toolbox around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday near Burge and Reyer Road after receiving a call reporting the remains. According to Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage, the dismembered body was identified using social media and photos of Odom’s tattoos.

“We made the determination it was best to extricate the body in a controlled environment, so we made arrangements to bring the toolbox to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Biloxi,” Turnage told WLOX.

Odom was believed to have been dead for at least a week before his body was found.

No report of Odom’s disappearance was made prior to the discovery of his body. Odom’s cause of death will be released on Tuesday following the autopsy’s completion.
