The Hinds County District Attorney’s Office is calling for the bond of the man accused of killing two people during a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Jackson to be revoked.
Florence native Jordan Kyle Cummins, 27, was taken into custody in March 2023 and charged with two counts of first-degree murder after repeatedly shooting Joshua Spann, 27, and Auden Jubilee Simpkins, 23.
According to law enforcement, Cummins shot the two victims after they stepped in to intervene during an ongoing domestic dispute just blocks away from the annual parade.
A video surfaced days after the shootings, showing Cummins bragging about the killings from jail.
“Free me, man. You walk up on me, and I’m going to bust your [expletive],” Cummins is heard saying in the video. “It’s real, man. I know it looks sweet, but [expletive] ain’t sweet, man. Two dead.”
Cummins claimed self-defense during his initial court appearance but was later issued a $250,000 bond and charged with possession of contraband in a correctional facility for recording the video. He was taken into custody once again four months later for simple assault charges.
Since then, the D.A.’s office has called for the circuit court to revoke Cummins’ bond after allegedly violating terms included in his release.
Documents show that Cummins contacted the other defendant, 29-year-old Jenny Lukens, who was arrested in late June for hindering prosecution for her alleged role in the double homicide. She was issued a $70,000 bond and was ordered to submit to a 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. curfew while wearing an ankle monitoring device.
The D.A.’s office is also arguing that Cummins did not follow the 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew restrictions imposed by the court, as investigators discovered he was at Lukens’ residence numerous times from December 19 to December 23.
