Elvis has left the building again. Well, an Elvis statue has been stolen from outside a building in Booneville that is.
The Booneville Police Department is investigating after a “life-size statue of Elvis Presley” was stolen from outside the historic Von Theater in downtown. According to a release, the statue was sitting on a bench outside the theater when thieves loaded it into a truck on July 2.
Security camera footage showed that at 9 p.m., a white Chevrolet truck with two males inside approached the theater and stopped in front of the statue. The statue was then loaded into the bed of the truck, driven to a nearby alley, and dropped off.
Around 9:50 p.m., a second vehicle described as a white Chevrolet car pulled up to the alley. A female exited the backseat and attempted to load it into the car. After an apparent struggle, the female driver got out and helped her pick up the statue. Once it was placed into the car and secured, the driver returned to the car and left the scene while the other female walked back into the downtown area.
At this time, no arrests have been made. Law enforcement is asking for the public’s help in identifying the subjects.
