A trash miscue has caused an entire recycling load in Natchez to be rejected.
City officials took to Facebook on Monday to announce that “medical waste” dumped into one bin caused a domino effect that ultimately led to trash collection and recycling company Meridian Waste turning a large load away. Officials report that “tubing and IV devices” were placed in a container along with recyclables.
“This caused the City of Natchez’s entire load of recycled materials to be rejected by the recycling facility,” an official statement reads. “We understand this was most likely a simple mistake, but please, use care in placing items in the blue recycling containers that are picked up every Wednesday throughout the city. Instructions are printed on the lid.”
To avoid a miscue like this from happening in the future, city officials encourage the public to review their recycling guidelines, which can be found here.
