One inmate that escaped from the Raymond Detention Center over the weekend is still on the run, according to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones.

A multi-agency search is underway in the area of Hwy 18 and Midway Rd. in Raymond for escapee Joseph Spring due to reported sightings of him in this area.

Inmates Joseph Spring, 31, and Michael Lewis, 31, were reported missing during Monday morning’s headcount, with a breach to the prison’s fence line later being discovered.

Lewis was captured in the area several hours later and is now facing additional charges after previously being booked on DUI and marijuana possession charges.

Spring, who escaped alongside Lewis through the facility’s air duct, had been at the Raymond Detention Center since November for violation of parole and burglary charges.

He has been described as being approximately 5’8″ tall at 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. A large tattoo can also be seen across his neck.

At this time, a multi-agency search is currently underway near Highway 18 and Midway Road in Raymond after reported sightings of him in the area.

Anyone with information regarding Spring’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office at (601)352-1521.
