Officials have captured escaped inmate Christopher Diaz.
Diaz, who was being housed at the Wilkinson County Community Work Center, broke out Wednesday afternoon before being spotted in Woodville.
While law enforcement initially believed Diaz to be heading toward the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the 32-year-old was captured along Highway 61. At this time, it’s unclear if he was heading north or south as the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Department plans to release more details in the coming hours.
Diaz was previously being jailed on charges of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. He is expected to face additional charges following the escape.
