Eupora mayor Blake McMullan has resigned from his position.

McMullan took to social media Tuesday morning to announce that he was stepping down from his position following a vote from the town’s board of aldermen to retain Police Chief Lawrence Caradine.

Though little context surrounds the mayor’s post, McMullan stated that he offered unspecified solutions to a problem he noticed and that the board rejected his proposals. This ultimately seems to have led to the board’s vote to keep Caradine at the helm.

“I realize how much we have accomplished and how much we have left to do, but at the end of the day right is right and wrong is wrong,” McMullan wrote. “I love the city of Eupora! You deserve better. I will have no further comment.”

No further details have been provided at this time.
