A former correctional officer in Mississippi has admitted to engaging in a sexual act with an inmate and is now facing up to 15 years on the other side of the bars she once guarded.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi, Parker M. Triplett pled guilty this week to one count of engaging in a sexual act with a federal prisoner at the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City.
Triplett, 25, was immediately taken into custody until her sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 24. A federal district court judge will determine her sentence, although the charge holds a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon made the announcement. The Department of Justice investigated the case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Kabah S. Ealy is prosecuting the case.
