A four-part limited documentary series called Exposing Parchman has been announced to air on A&E Network.

The documentary centers on a lawsuit that was filed in 2020 by rapper Yo Gotti and Team Roc against former Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) Commissioner Pelicia Hall and Parchman superintendent of the Mississippi State Penitentiary Marshal Turner.

Jay-Z is said to be involved in making the documentary along with Yo Gotti and Team Roc to “bring light to the dark history, deplorable conditions and ongoing abuses at the Mississippi Penitentiary.”

According to iHeart Radio, the CEO of Roc Nation Desiree Perez explained that “[Team Roc] launched a fight to put a stop to the literal death sentences imposed on inmates through the inhumane, violent, and torturous conditions created by Parchman prison officials. We are honored to develop this series with A&E, Good Caper and ITV to continue to make sure the atrocities and history of Parchman are top of mind on a national stage.”

Details concerning the history of the prison, the incarceration process, and the impact of the penitentiary on the surrounding community will be included as well.

As of now, the release date for the documentary has not been announced by A&E.
