The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying a group of subjects potentially linked to a shooting in Leland that left six dead and at least 10 others injured.
Gunfire erupted at the intersection of Fourth Street and North Main Street around midnight Friday when a large crowd was gathered for a block party following the homecoming football game at Leland High School. The FBI Jackson Field Office stated in a Sunday night press release that the incident appears to have been “sparked by a disagreement among several individuals.”
Along with the potential motive, federal agents released pictures of four unknown subjects.

The shooting in Leland was one of several, albeit unrelated, shootings that made for a deadly weekend across Mississippi.
Another shooting happened Friday night on the campus of Heidelberg High School during the school’s homecoming football game and resulted in two people, including an expectant mother, dying. Tyler Jarod Goodloe, 18, was taken into custody and had multiple charges, including two counts of capital murder, filed against him. His bond was set at just over $2 million.
A third shooting on Friday night occurred at South Delta High School’s football game in Rolling Fork. One victim was injured but is now in stable condition. Two suspects, Justin Pam and Michael Miles, Jr., are in custody.
On Saturday night, more gunfire boomed, this time on the campus of Alcorn State University in Lorman. When campus police officers responded to the scene inside the Industrial Technology Building, one person was found dead and two others injured. The deceased has been identified as Brekyra Fisher, 29. No arrests had announced in the case as of Sunday night.
