A federal employee is dead following a workplace accident in Itawamba County.
Officials report that Scott Pannell, 42, died near the banks of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway on Wednesday afternoon. A tree is reported to have killed Pannell while supervising a cleanup project.
Pannell worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was reported dead at the scene of the accident.
No further information has been released at this time.
