The Federal Emergency Management Agency has given out more than $13.3 million in individual assistance to survivors of the severe weather that rolled through Mississippi on March 14 and 15.
6,084 residents have applied for and been recipients of the federal aid, while more than $8.2 million has also been doled out in housing assistance. Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency say they are working hand in hand with FEMA and other local partners in more than 20 counties affected by the storms.
Applications are still open for survivors, while officials are also encouraging residents to apply even if they are insured as additional funds may be available. Those in the affected areas can apply for assistance using the FEMA app, online, or by calling the FEMA helpline at (800) 621-3362.

While MEMA begins to scale back availability of the centers, those remaining will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday through Saturday.
