A central Mississippi woman will spend two decades in state prison after pleading guilty to intentionally poisoning an elderly man with fentanyl.
In June of 2023, officers with the Ridgeland Police Department responded to a call about a man suffering from a drug overdose. The victim told officers that he had been poisoned by a woman named Dixie and that she had also stolen his car.

The pair apparently had met earlier in the day at the Food Depot in Jackson, where she had offered to come back to his house to work on his truck with him.
Upon further investigation, the man’s cellphone, two handguns, and two credit cards were also found to be missing. The stolen vehicle was tracked via tag readers, helping police locate Dixie White back at the Food Depot. She was in the stolen car with several others and was arrested on the scene.
White later confessed to investigators that she had poured fentanyl in the man’s soda so he would be rendered unconscious. She then robbed him while he was asleep.
“It is a miracle the 84-year-old victim in this case survived unknowingly ingesting fentanyl. The defendant could have easily killed this elderly man in her attempt to knock him out so she could rob him blind,” Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett said.
“I want to commend the investigators of the Ridgeland Police Department for all the work they did to ensure his property was located and the person responsible was apprehended.”
White was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for aggravated assault as a habitual offender.
