The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office is seeking additional information related to an open investigation into alleged sex crimes committed by a former children’s doctor.
Dr. Mehul Dixit, who previously worked as a pediatric nephrologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, was indicted by a Hinds County grand jury on Monday on 13 counts of gratification of lust of a vulnerable person and 12 counts of sexual battery of a vulnerable person.
According to officials, the indictment centered on clinical visits that occurred from between 2013 and 2023. Dixit previously had his Mississippi license suspended following complaints from a pair of female teens who accused the doctor of touching them inappropriately while not wearing gloves. A similar complaint was made against him in Florida.
Mississippi’s medical licensure board then deemed Dixit’s ability to practice a danger to public safety, and he was fired by UMMC. Anyone with information linked to this case is urged to contact the Mississippi Attorney General‘s Office here or by calling (800) 852-8341.
