With the WNBA Draft now in the books, teams across the league are looking to round out their rosters heading into a new season.
Jessika Carter, a center who suited up for Mississippi State from 2019-24 while garnering All-SEC status on three occasions, was signed Thursday by the Chicago Sky to a training camp contract. The one-year deal announced by the team will give Carter a chance to prove herself during preseason practices and exhibition games.

The 6-foot-5 Carter made her WNBA debut in 2024 after being selected in the second round by the New York Liberty. She eventually landed with the Las Vegas Aces and played in two games, recording four minutes of playing time.
While at Mississippi State, Carter started 113 games, averaging 11.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 54.4% from the field. She averaged over 14 points and nearly 10 rebounds in each of her final three seasons in Starkville.
Proving efficient on both ends of the court, Carter left the collegiate level as Mississippi State’s all-time leader in games played (151) and seventh in program history in points (1,750), fifth in field goals (718), third in blocks (238), and second in rebounds (1,120).
The Sky tip off the 2025 regular season on May 17 against the Indiana Fever. WNBA preseason games will take place from May 2 to May 12.
