Former Pascagoula City Councilman passes away from COVID

Friends and family are sharing memories of former Pascagoula City Councilman Joe Abston on their social media pages.  The 51 year old passed away Sunday after over a week in the hospital battling COVID.

Abston had driven his wife and their 2 daughters to get vaccinated in April, but chose not to get the shot himself.  A vaccination event is being held in his honor Thursday night from 5-7pm in the Pascagoula High School Performing Arts Center parking lot.

Before his passing, his wife Missy recorded a video with Singing River Health System urging people to get vaccinated.
