Former Southern Miss baseball star Reece Ewing is expected to make a full recovery after a life-threatening car accident.

According to a Facebook post from his mother, Ewing was on Highway 98 when his vehicle and an 18-wheeler collided. Ewing was subsequently airlifted from the scene to a local hospital and was treated for his injuries.

“Reece ended up with a concussion and some small things that we can deal with,” a portion of the post from Jada Moreland Ewing reads. “We are praising God and thanking Him for this blessing and for answering our prayers. I can’t tell you how many times I pray for God to protect my children. Mamas, never stop praying for your children!”

While Ewing went undrafted after graduating from Southern Miss in 2023, he finished his three years in Hattiesburg with a .253 batting average, 138 hits, 21 home runs, and 90 RBIs. The Pearl River Community College product was a staple in the Golden Eagles outfield, holding a career .969 fielding percentage.
