A former federal corrections officer from Greenville has been sentenced to serve one year and one day in prison for bribery.

Brian Jenkins, 39, was accused of using his position as a corrections officer to accept payments in exchange for smuggling contraband.

According to court documents, Jenkins smuggled numerous items into the Yazoo City Federal Corrections Complex from August 2017 to June 2018.

Jenkins admitted receiving payments of just over $4,000 from inmates and others for delivering the contraband to inmates inside the facility.

He was charged through the submission of criminal information before later pleading guilty to accepting bribe payments while employed at the federal prison.
