The Ole Miss women’s basketball team shocked the nation on Sunday, defeating No. 1 seed Stanford 54-49 in a hostile road environment. Now the No. 8 seed Lady Rebels (25-8, 11-5 SEC) are slated to take on No. 5 seed Louisville (25-11, 12-6 ACC) in the Sweet 16.

Ole Miss vs. Louisville

The Lady Rebels’ roster has bought into head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin’s “no ceilings” philosophy. After eliminating the Cardinal in the round of 32, Ole Miss will look to carry the momentum of unseating another giant in Louisville. Ole Miss will rely on a team effort to complement the exceptional play of senior guard Angel Baker and junior forward Madison Scott in order to advance to the Elite 8.

No stranger to this stage of the tournament, Louisville is appearing in its sixth-consecutive Sweet 16 match, giving the Lady Cardinals the edge when it comes to experience. Coming off of a dominant, 22-point victory over No. 4 seed Texas, the Lady Cardinals will look to its veterans, including junior guard Hailey Van Lith, to overwhelm Ole Miss and come out on top.
