The Mississippi Children’s Museum is inviting the public to get a glimpse of life at Hogwarts this weekend for Harry Potter Day.
A wizard-themed celebration will occur on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., offering families an opportunity to celebrate the wildly popular fictional character’s birthday with magical festivities. The immersive event will feature enchanting activities, creative classes, and spellbinding surprises for guests of all ages.
Visitors will begin their journey with a Sorting Hat ceremony, where young witches and wizards will discover their Hogwarts House before exploring hands-on activities inspired by the renowned series.
According to museum officials, a special emphasis will be placed on literacy this year, encouraging children and families to dive deeper into the world of Harry Potter by exploring the books that sparked the legendary wizard’s meteoric rise. Throughout the event, story elements from the original series will come to life, creating an environment that promotes a love of reading and imagination.

One of the highlights includes crafting a real wand at Ollivander’s Wand Shop. Then, young pupils will attend Hogwarts-style classes including: Herbology, Astronomy, and Potions.
Throughout the day, participants will earn points for their House, with the winning House revealed on the museum’s social media after the event. Visitors are encouraged to bring their Mississippi Children’s Museum stamp book to collect a special Harry Potter-themed stamp exclusive to this celebration.
Costumes are encouraged, and all adults must be accompanied by a child, while all children must also be accompanied by an adult. Activities are included with $13 general admission and free with museum membership. More information can be found here.
