AmeriPro Health will provide ambulance services across George County after a recent board of supervisors’ vote.
The Atlanta-based company steps in after the George County Board of Supervisors chose to part ways with ASAP EMS. AmeriPro’s response time and efficiency over the past year and a half in neighboring Greene County paved the way for a three-year contract approved by the board in George County.
As part of the agreement in George County, AmeriPro will provide two advanced life support ambulance trucks that are on call 24 hours a day and a full suite of advanced technology, including cardiac monitoring equipment, automated chest compression devices, ventilators, and other patient care tools.
AmeriPro is expected to hire 12 paramedics and emergency medical technicians under the new contract, along with a senior-level manager. The company now serves four counties in the southern half of Mississippi, totaling 80 employees.
The contract also includes a mutual aid agreement between ambulances in George and Greene counties, in what company officials guarantee will result in better care for patients.
“Our expansion into George County reflects AmeriPro’s commitment to establishing Mississippi as a key hub in our national network over the next decade,” AmeriPro CEO Larry Richardson said. “By integrating cutting-edge technology and fostering collaborative partnerships like our mutual aid agreement with Greene County, we’re setting a new standard for rapid response and high-quality patient care that transcends county lines.
“We appreciate the trust the county leaders have placed in our team and look forward to implementing a vision that will improve patient outcomes across the region.”
When deciding on a new ambulance services provider, the George County Board of Supervisors partnered with George Regional Health Systems on research, consultation, and a recommendation on which provider would be best for the 26,000-person county.
“There is no way to overstress the importance of reliable ambulance service with trained paramedics during an emergency in the county,” George County Board of Supervisors President Frankie Massey said. “The board appreciates…the management team at George Regional Health Systems in selecting AmeriPro Health as our next ambulance provider. George County and GRHS are working on a smooth transition to AmeriPro’s ambulance service and a strong partnership with their local crews.”
In addition to the jobs AmeriPro will create in George County, it plans to further invest in the community through career training programs, health fairs, and other initiatives.
Established in 2018, AmeriPro Health now has services in 10 states with more than 1,500 employees.
